The Competition That Shines a Light on Innovation

The German Innovation Award is presented by the German Design Council. It recognizes products, solutions, and services that break new ground across industries, offer innovative solutions, provide added value to users, and emphasize the environment. There is room for innovation everywhere—no matter if you’re an industry giant or a start-up. The participants all compete on a level playing field to ensure that each achievement receives maximum public recognition and exposure.

The German Innovation Awards jury comprises a broad range of institutional and private-sector experts representing the fields of business, digital transformation, and research and development. Submissions are evaluated based on three criteria: Degree of innovation, benefit to users, and economic viability. The contestants were asked to present innovation strategies that incorporated social, ecological, economic sustainability and which took energy and resource requirements into consideration.
